Creating a newsfeed on Google Reader today took much more time than I thought it would...because I am not sure what to add. There is SO much to choose from. Additionally, as I add sites I start reading through them, which is not the point today. Even more horrifyingly - when trying to keep on task - I go off on tangents when I see an interesting entry linked somehow to the page I am adding to the Google Reader. One tangent led me to the page of a LAUSD librarian http://lausdlibrarian.blogspot.com/; it was chock full of good information.
Now that it is set up, sort of. The 'newsEtc' file, in particular, enables me to know what's going on 1st thing in the morning; i don't need to wait until evening news or podcast listening. If there are things to investigate, I can read them during lunch.
How to use this for school...I am looking forward to learning how it is used in middle and high school. It might be interesting to set newsfeeds up for the current political season.
