Thing 23 WOW!
1. My favorite part was building the blog and making it the Practice page for what we learned. Additionally I can go back to it, and the classroom2.0 blog, to review 'how to do' something.
2. I accepted responsibility for my own learning.
Accepted "challenges." Right around Technocrati I couldn't absorb one more piece of information. it was so bad that i couldn't even read for pleasure that evening! I came back to it a few days later and put parameters around what I needed to know for now, which was familiarity. Once accomplished I moved on.
I played a lot in preparation for "real" use
I plan to teach a few of these tricks to my students tho Manchester does have the world's greatest tech teacher. I would like to do this to confirm my own learning...then Bob can REALLY teach them! :-)
I started my own blog/journal where I can keep track of places I've gone and fabulous food I've eaten.
3. The fun of putting stuff on a blog.
Flickr mash ups
Blogs: Librarythings and Lausd Librarian
Google Reader newfeeds...who needs news shows now? I can read everything they're reading!
Tho not on course curriculum, I began to utilize my igoogle account - docs, notebook, reader, and homepage - as more of a home base.
De.li.ci.ous - or however it is spelled - has begun to help me with my bookmark accessibility issue. Rollyo will enable me to set up specific topic related searches for student work.
4.I can't think of anything right now.
5. If the topic were something 'usable' for my classroom - or where I want my classroom to go - YES! I would participate in another discovery program like this one.
6. As I implement them into the classroom, the "things" discovered in Classroom 2.0 provide me with more engaging tools for my teaching toolbox.
whooeee! It has been GREAT
Thing 22
The Gutenberg project: I have explored this site in the past looking for Jane Austen and finding her.
As we read and discuss poetry through the year, I could use an ebook site to read the poetry and have it on view for students.
The British Library has a Mozart book that I think will be of use this year in our music/reading studies! whooeee
Additionally the Haggadah will be of use/interest during our Ancient Israel/Judaism Unit.
I listen to books on CD, occasionally downloading them to my ipod, when going on trips or during exercise. I once overheard a student at the Woodward Park Library trying to convince his father that he received Enrichment Reading points for listening to a book on CD. argh!

Thing 21
THIS is the year to make more time for both. itunesU and barnes and nobles' "meet the author" are two other sites that come to mind.
I have used Grammar Girl in the classroom and Jazz @ Lincoln Center.
Experimenting with creating podcasts sounds like a real adventure!!!
Finally, I will play with this site:
http://www.archive.org/details/pbullet
which will show me how to do a podcast
and with my newly installed QuickTimePro.
Thing 20
Respect, Aretha Franklin
1970 live performance:
A 1967 live performance:
The recording I love!
Y American Idol is WRONG
Thing 20!
Another issue I have with YouTube is that I just don't know how to find things. I am starting to learn that if an idea hits me to search on YouTube.
The time issue....
i like this video - dominoes - to exaggerate cause and effect; it also shows cooperation and sequence of events
Thing 19
I wonder if there is a way to utilize this to make our Library system efficient????
I may assign a shelf to a group and have them list the pertinent information for our classroom Library Thing.
The cataloging of CDs! What a great idea as i keep some at home and some at school. If I have a master CD list it will keep me from buying duplicates!
zoho learning 7.30.08
hey! i checked the blog and.....
see that the smiley icon didn't make it to the blog... in its place the word smiling appeared.
Now that the zoho doc has been published to the blog I took a little look around zoho and saw that it offers many of the same programs offered by Google.
my plan for the new school year is to introduce Google docs to my class for work begun at school and completed or continued at home.

Thing #17
2. a kid-o-pedia for our music/composer learning this year is a definite! I will probably make it extra credit or add some incentive.
the thing 17 page answered my main question when using wikis w/my students - 6th grade - i can monitor their contributions as i do with our blogmeister reading log. i am not at all concerned about appropriateness, but want to monitor their progress.
Thing 16
1st wiki reviewed and bookmarked for 'inspiration':
Literary Circle Wiki
particularly liked the pages for student collaborative responses
with some brainpower and time, this wiki can teach me how to use a wiki, too!
spent about an hour here!
2nd wiki AP World History
interesting idea but didn't see much detail
Spent a few minutes @ PBWiki looking at educator use of it. Seems easier to use than the FUSD site
I guess I am wondering how this works differently than a blog/google website...for my current purposes: student response to literature, the info site for How to do a Response to Lit, and directions/websites for the year's major project. One way to find out is to play with creating a wiki to see if it works better than the 3 or 4 links on the bottom of classwebsite.
Finally I wonder do I do EVERYTHING for room 14 on 1 wiki? as in the KS lessons/webquests seem more webpage friendly. no collaboration needed. ????????????
Curriculum Connections: ideas 2 and 4 both work
I had already planned to do the trading cards with composer research...to post them on a wiki - our music wiki? - would be fabulous.
Using periods of Anc History each group could be responsible for compiling a list for an era.

Thing 15
1. The youtube video was different from the original Disney movies as it showed snippets - 1, 2, 3 words- from a variety of Disney movies. Obviously the original Disney movies are longer and tell complete stories.
2.Bound by the Law provided information on copyright and fair use laws. Presented in comic book form, it told the story of a documentary film maker who wants to know if she needs permissions for music, art, and other backgrounds in her film on NY. This comic could be appropriate even for a high school class.
A perusal of the 2008 Horizon Report had some ideas that seem adaptable to elementary ed @ a school - mine! - in which we have at least two tech wizards. Particularly interesting are video and on line collaborating!
Happiness and peace
Nothing says "Enjoy" like a cupcake...particularly one from Sprinkles. Thankfully one will open Stanford Shopping Mall in August. I guess the price I will have to pay is the Los Banos route home from SF.
And this - inserting this pic - gives me practice with flickr.
Another Break!?
Thing 14
Doing a search for "Classroom 2.0"
1. "Posts" bring up individual posts containing "classroom" and "2.0". The blogs are linked to the posts, of course. The reader can preview the entry or click on the post's title and read the entire post. Due to the search term, all posts related to teaching.
2. "Blogs" brings up a list of , in this case, 90 blogs about "Classroom 2.0."
3. I added EduBlog to favs as a result of my Technorati 'discovery.'
Here are some outstanding issues as I move on to the next thing:
-The more I look around Technorati, the more I don't know how I would use it.
-I have, say, my favorite political blogs, I use those as springboards for further reading on a topic. -Why is Technorati for?

Breaktime!
Thing 13
2. In reviewing tags i came across a very informative article about brain research and decision making. it really IS important to allow down time from decision making whether it is Life or a multiple choice test.
3. What I am finding through out this 2.0 class is how much 'good stuff' there is out there. this recognition leaves me:
a. excited about what I have gained so far
b. a tad apprehensive - how do i limit myself so that all waking hours aren't spent on-line!
c. with brain connections firing: OK how will I catagorize all the new info in my brain (google docs helps - immediate notetaking capability) and how will I learn to limit myself?
4. I have set up a delicious account with all my firefox bookmarks. will play with it later. i like it bcs i can access my bookmarks no matter where i am! including on my future iphone.
5 and finally. How to create a de.licio.us for student use will require more time for my personal cognition.

Thing #11, again.
This is her discussion board:
Here is another webpage she's created. wow! she's pretty prolific.
BTW I now know how my Room14ers feel when they are immersed in their Ancient Civilization research. It is an awful lot of fun, but WOW! I think my brain might burst. oh wait...those are just the connections firing away!
Thing #12 Rollyo
Please insert "techy" for "pretty."
Thing #11
Romeo And Juliet- Overture-Fantasy.mp3
Seems to be a Skidmore College site featuring the preformances of students. Good quality sound. Keyboard music is quite good.
Here is another informative - as in I could get lost for hours here - site: http://www.librarything.com
Anything and everything you could want to know about books. I went here to read about the Twilight series bcs I know a few of my precocious darlings will want Enrichment Reading credit for reading these light, entertaining, definitely NOT classic novels.
Exploration of NING led me to a social network site for Navy Moms; what a helpful supportive idea. I also saw one for young adult Cancer patients; how comforting to know you are not alone and know that there are people who really "get" how you feel.
Those of us who don't have kids in the military or don't have a frightening illness can be listeners, but we don't really, really understand.
On the other hand, there was really and truly a David Hasselhoff social network site. Like watching "The REal OC" on Bravo I found myself perusing this strange world for more than 30 seconds. that is just wrong!
Thing #11 Haggard
HAGGARD: Classical meets headbanger music!
Found @ lastfm, which is a great music sharing/social network site. "Great" bcs it is music; I love discovering new music to listen to...even if just for a short while
http://www.haggard.de/index2.html
I wonder else I will find at last.fm, which was #1 in the web 2.0 awards music category.
Lollygaggers Thing #10 cont'd
4 8th grade delights - Brandon, Tori, "Person", and Adam - who came to visit on Open House 2008. Samantha was the missing lollygagger.
In a year of fabulousness, they were fabulous.
Thing 10
1st site visit: http://www.fototrix.com/upload.asp. Comic strip generator. all i want to do is put a class picture into the roman army..........
Next I went back to the BigLabs site, which was quite a lot of fun and applicable to class.
Here is what I did; a map of where i've lived.

Thing #8
Now that it is set up, sort of. The 'newsEtc' file, in particular, enables me to know what's going on 1st thing in the morning; i don't need to wait until evening news or podcast listening. If there are things to investigate, I can read them during lunch.
How to use this for school...I am looking forward to learning how it is used in middle and high school. It might be interesting to set newsfeeds up for the current political season.

beethovenTradingCard
A postcard created for practice. This could be a culmination for the "Life @ 11" writing project.
Thing 5 and 6
My creation, originally uploaded by renllua.
I feel techy, o so techy!
another mashup I looked at showed crime in Chicago. One could select the beat, type of crime, and time frame. a map pops up and gives detail. i wonder if chicago community organizers monitor this map.
Thing 3
This is the first time I have even really looked at avatars, let alone 'created a new me' via avatar.
What I learned: how to create an Avatar
What I practiced: setting up a blog and creating posts
My biggest frustration: Getting the 'right' hair color and cut on 'my' avatar.
Session 1, Thing 2
EASIEST to DO: Begin with the end in mind
Setting goals for this experience
Skills attained through 2.0 and actual use contribute to my #1 current professional goal: increasing tools of engagement. The tools I am practicing with a LOT are music and technology. For the purposes of 2.0 I am specifically learning how to enhance curriculum/student learning through technology.
Wikis and flckr are 2 programs i know nothing about except for the following. Wikis do something with info and flckr does something with pictures. Both seem as though they would have classroom application.
I know and love podcasts; I would like to know how to create podcasts. I have envisioned student-made podcasts for our ancient art 'show' at the end of the year. I have wanted to create podcasts for field trips.
Finally, I have been curious about social networking sites. I am glad I will learn a bit about them, too.
Most Challenging: Sustaining LifeLongLearner mindset when planting plants.
Sadly I cannot send my blog's url to the Fresno Fun.
